Barcelona Reveals the Nature of Gavi’s Injury

Barcelona announced that its player, Gavi, is suffering from discomfort in his right knee, which will prevent him from participating in tomorrow’s match against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

The medical statement explained that the player’s absence has not yet been determined, as it will depend on the development of his condition. However, he will also be unavailable to coach Luis de la Fuente for the Spanish national team’s matches against Bulgaria and Turkey on September 4 and 7.

Gavi underwent medical tests on Saturday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, while the Barça players were conducting their final training session before facing Rayo Vallecano.

Sources within Barcelona confirmed to Mundo Deportivo that the technical and medical staff do not want to risk the player, especially since the pain is concentrated in the same knee where he suffered a serious injury on November 19, 2023, when he suffered a complete rupture of the cruciate ligament and an injury to the external meniscus during a match against Georgia, keeping him out of action for nearly a year.

Although recent tests have ruled out a major knee injury, the decision was made not to field him against Rayo Vallecano, and the player will be given approximately two weeks of rest to try to fully overcome the pain.
