Guardiola settles rumors of Ederson’s departure to the Turkish league

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has settled the debate surrounding the future of Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson, confirming that he will remain the team’s first choice goalkeeper, despite speculation linking him with a move to the Turkish league via Galatasaray.
Reports indicated that Ederson, 31, was keen to try a new experience with the Turkish champions, but Manchester City insisted they would keep the goalkeeper, who has one year left on his contract.
The English champions have also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain for Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, especially after they paid £27 million to bring back young goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley.
When asked about the identity of the starting goalkeeper against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, Guardiola said: “Right now, Ederson is the first choice. He’s ready, yes.”
Summer Deals and Star Departures
During the current transfer window, Manchester City made several notable signings, most notably Dutchman Tijani Reynders, Algerian Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Frenchman Ryan Cherki, in addition to goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli and youngster Sverre Nepane.
On the other hand, the team witnessed the departure of big names such as Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, and goalkeeper Scott Carson, while Jack Grealish was loaned to Everton and Vitor Reyes to Girona.
Man City’s Roster Is Overcrowded
Guardiola sarcastically expressed the squad’s overcrowdedness, saying, “Pre-season is a dream. We have 40 players, no problem. 45 players is also fine, and everyone accepts that. But starting tomorrow, I will have to cut players from the squad every week, and that’s not ideal.” He added that competition for positions must be fair, allowing each player to perform at their best.
