Mauricio Pochettino leaves Chelsea
Chelsea announced a surprising decision to terminate the contract of Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino, after one season of assuming the task of coaching the team.
Chelsea club revealed in an official statement, today, Tuesday, that it had reached an agreement with Pochettino, by mutual consent, stipulating his immediate departure from Stamford Bridge.
For his part, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said that the administration is planning to sign a young coach to succeed Pochettino.
This decision comes after only one season, which Pochettino spent at the club, leading it to occupy sixth place in the English Premier League table, and ensuring participation in one of the European championships.
Pochettino paid the price for the team’s fluctuation in results at the beginning of the season, despite the situation being corrected in the new year, as Chelsea was the fourth team with the most points since last December.
The Argentine coach had hinted at continuing in his position recently, after revealing that he met with Todd Boyle, one of the club’s owners, for dinner together last Friday, during which they did not discuss his future.
