Guardiola: I’m not a Real Madrid coach until you ask me to win Champions League

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola spoke about Leipzig match, tomorrow evening, Tuesday, in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

Manchester City hosts Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium, to determine the qualifier for the quarter-finals of the Champions League, after they tied in the first leg (1-1).
Guardiola said in the press conference preceding the Leipzig match: “Chelsea qualified and we will see what happens with Liverpool against Real Madrid .. I do not think about the pressures of defending the English Premier League, it is the best league in the world.”

The Spanish coach added, “The Champions League is a wonderful and nice competition, which I really like. You play with teams from other countries in Europe, which is great.”

And he continued, “It is good that we are among the main candidates in the Champions League, but Leipzig is a really good team.. There are other teams also nominated, such as Napoli, Milan and Real Madrid.”

Guardiola continued: “It is important that we stay going in all competitions, not only for a better international break.. but in order to survive the next two months.” And he added: “Haaland? I don’t like one player scoring his goals only from the penalty area. We need him to be active and build up attacking play, he has improved but he can do better”.

He elaborated on the importance of the European title: “The Champions League will determine my success in Manchester City? I think the answer will be yes to the opinion of the fans, but that does not mean that I agree with this opinion.”

Guardiola completed: “After my first match in the Champions League with Manchester City, they asked me to win the Champions League… I would understand that if I were a Real Madrid coach.”
