Dembele: I knew my chance would come

Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele expressed his delight at winning the Globe Soccer Best Player of the Year award.

Dembele received the award at a ceremony held on Sunday in the United Arab Emirates.

He beat out several other top players, including his compatriot Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid, Barcelona stars Lamine Yamal and Rafinha, and his PSG teammate Vitinha.

In comments reported by the Catalan newspaper Sport, Dembele said: “I want to thank everyone who voted for me: my teammates, the president, the sporting director, coaches Luis Campos and Luis Enrique, my family, and my close friends who are here.”

Regarding PSG’s Champions League victory last season, he added: “It wasn’t easy. We didn’t have the best start to the first half of the season, but every player improved, and we ended up winning.”

He concluded: “I went through some difficult moments in my career due to injuries, but I knew my chance would come.”

It’s worth noting that Dembélé also won the Ballon d’Or, awarded by France Football magazine, as well as FIFA.
