Van Dijk Raises Uncertainty About Salah’s Future at Liverpool
Shock at Anfield! Van Dijk Fuels Speculation About Salah's Return After the Africa Cup of Nations

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has raised new questions about the future of his Egyptian teammate Mohamed Salah with the Reds.
According to the British newspaper “The Sun,” Salah will be away on international duty with the Egyptian national team. However, Van Dijk did not hide his desire for him to remain with the team, saying: “I wish him all the best and… I hope he comes back.”
The newspaper pointed out that these were short words, but they clearly indicated that the Dutch captain is not entirely certain about what will happen next.
Van Dijk elaborated on his position, saying: “I don’t have control over that. He’s one of the leaders. I like having him with us because he’s one of the leaders. Mo will be participating in the Africa Cup of Nations. We hope he achieves success there, and we all hope he comes back and is important for us until the end of the season.”
He added: “But on the other hand, we all know the nature of football, and we don’t know what will happen.” “I hope he stays, because he’s one of our leaders, a very important player, and you saw that with another assist. Salah is still important to the club, but there are other parties involved in this matter.”
He continued: “Of course, I told him I want him to stay. I won’t tell you the rest. We’ll keep in touch over the coming days and weeks, as always. And then we’ll see.”
Salah was once again in the spotlight following a disagreement with manager Arne Slot, before things returned to normal prior to the Egyptian star’s substitute appearance against Brighton.
Van Dijk believes Slot handled the situation perfectly, saying: “I think the manager handled it very well. Calmly and in his own way. It’s a very complicated situation. But looking at it, and from the daily conversations we’ve had, I think he handled it excellently. When difficult moments come, we have to stay united.”
He added: “This is a real test of how everyone reacts, and so far the manager has done his job perfectly.”
Van Dijk concluded by emphasizing that the controversy surrounding Salah had not affected the team, citing the clean sheets against Inter and Brighton, saying: “I talk to most of the players. If there was a feeling that it might become a problem within the team and affect performance, the story would be different. But I think we’ve shown this week that we are completely united and moving forward as a team.”
