Paris Saint-Germain announces the signing of Lucas Chevalier

Today, French club Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the signing of international goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille, on a contract until the summer of 2030. He will wear the number 30 jersey with the team.

The club stated: “Chevalier was born in Calais on November 6, 2001, and began his football career at the age of six with Sporting Club Coquelles before moving to AS Marcq, and from there to Lille’s academy in 2014. He progressed through the youth ranks of the northern club until making his debut with the reserve team in Ligue 2 in 2018 at the age of 16.”

He added, “The young goalkeeper participated in various youth tournaments and spent the 2021-22 season on loan with Valenciennes, where he played 30 Ligue 2 matches and was named “Discovery of the Season” among goalkeepers. Upon his return to Lille, he quickly established himself as the starting goalkeeper, playing 35 league matches in the 2022-23 season, keeping 12 clean sheets.”

He continued, “In the 2023-24 season, the young goalkeeper played 44 matches with Lille, including 34 in Ligue 1 and keeping 11 clean sheets, contributing to his team’s second-best defense in the league behind Paris Saint-Germain. He also helped Lille reach the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League.”

He continued, “The goalkeeper is distinguished by his flexibility on the goal line, his strength in aerial and duel situations, and his outstanding ability with his feet, which has made him one of the most prominent goalkeepers in the French league and one of the most promising talents in Europe. He was crowned the best goalkeeper in the French league in 2024 and was nominated for the Yassin International Award as the youngest goalkeeper on the list.”

He concluded, “Internationally, Chevalier has represented various French youth teams, all the way up to the senior team. He was called up for the first time in November 2023 to participate in the UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Italy, and he was included in France’s squad for the tournament finals last May.”
