Voting Process

The shortlist is made up at the start by journalists from France Football, who put together and discuss a list of 30 nominees for the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or. Voting is done by a global group of journalists ,  100 for the men’s award and 50 for the women’s award , each drawn from top-ranked countries in the FIFA rankings.

Voters rank their top 10 players. Points are allocated as follows: first choice gets 15, and then 12, 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

The criteria for evaluation consider individual performanceteam success and sportsmanship, and in case of a tie, the number of first-place and if needed, second-place votes and so on.
