Mohamed Salah comments on the tragedy of Jota’s departure

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool star and Egypt national team captain, expressed his deep shock and sadness at the death of his Portuguese teammate Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who were killed in a horrific car accident in Spain early Thursday morning.

Salah posted a touching message on his official X account, writing: “I am speechless. Until yesterday, I never imagined that anything would scare me about returning to Liverpool after the break and the end of my vacation.”

He added: “Teammates come and go, but not like this.”

Salah continued: “I find it very difficult to accept Diogo’s absence when we return to training. I deeply sympathize with his wife and children, and of course his parents, who lost their children suddenly.”

He concluded his message by saying: “Everyone close to Diogo and his brother André needs all the support possible. We will never forget them.”

It’s worth noting that Diogo Jota, 28, has been a teammate of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool for five seasons since joining the team in 2020 from Porto, forming a distinguished duo that contributed to numerous achievements, most notably the English Premier League title.
