Real Madrid beats Girona by three and regains the lead in La Liga

Real Madrid achieved a 3-0 victory over Girona, this Saturday evening, in the eighth round of La Liga.

Real Madrid’s goals in the match were scored by Joselu, Tshwamini and Billingham in the 17th, 21st and 71st minutes.

With this victory, Real Madrid raised its score to 21 points at the top of the La Liga table, while Girona’s score froze at 19 points in third place.

The match began under pressure from the hosts, as Girona player Cotto passed a cross from the right side towards his teammate Herrera inside the Real Madrid penalty area, where he rose and shot a header that passed over the horizontal crossbar in the 2nd minute.

Girona player Tsygankov missed the opportunity to score the lead goal in the 4th minute, with a header shot that hit Real Madrid’s right post.

Real Madrid succeeded in turning things around by scoring the lead goal in the 17th minute, as Bellingham passed a cross from the left side towards Joselu, who received and shot into the Catalan team’s net.

The Merengues quickly added the second goal, in the 21st minute, from a corner kick executed by German Toni Kroos, which reached Tshwamini, who rose and headed the ball past goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Fede Valverde shot a shot on the volley that passed over Girona’s goal in the 31st minute.

Vinicius Junior ran on the left side and shot a ball, but it arrived weakly in the hands of goalkeeper Gazzaniga, so the match referee blew the whistle at the end of the first half, with the Merengues leading by a clean double.

At the beginning of the second half, the match referee awarded a free kick to Girona on the edge of the area, which reached David Lopez, who headed the shot, but goalkeeper Kepa excelled in making the save, but it bounced in front of Eric Garcia, who failed to put the ball in the net and passed next to the left post, in the 49th minute.

From a corner kick by Girona in the 55th minute, it reached Herrera inside the area, where he shot a header that passed over the horizontal crossbar of Real Madrid’s goal.

Bellingham wasted the opportunity to add a third goal for Real Madrid in the 63rd minute, with a weak shot inside the area, which was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Bellingham succeeded in adding the third goal in the 71st minute. A shot inside the area from Joselu was blocked by the goalkeeper and bounced in front of Bellingham, who shot at the bottom right of the goal.

Miguel Gutierrez shot a rocket that passed over the crossbar of goalkeeper Kepa’s goal in the 77th minute.

The match referee showed a red card to Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez in stoppage time after his violent intervention on Girona’s Porto player.

Real Madrid players maintained control of the match, winning the three points and regaining the top spot in La Liga again.
