Real Madrid wins over Sociedad…and regains the top spot in La Liga

Real Madrid overturned a goal deficit against its guest, Real Sociedad, to win (2-1), today, Sunday, at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, in the fifth round of La liga.

Sociedad took the lead with a goal scored by Ander Barrenchea in the 4th minute, and Real Madrid was able to equalize the score through Federico Valvedere in the 46th minute, then Joselu added the second goal in the 60th minute.

Real Madrid regained the top spot in the standings, after raising its score to 15 points, two points ahead of Barcelona, while Sociedad’s score stopped at 6 points in 11th place.

The match began under pressure from the visitors, and Barrenchea succeeded in scoring, when he shot a ball that Kepa blocked before it bounced off him and Ander put it into the net.

Rodrigo tried to return to the result, as he received a through pass from Bellingham and went and shot the ball, but it reached the arms of goalkeeper Alex Remiro.

Kubo added the second goal, but the match referee canceled it due to being offside, then Mendes shot a missile that touched goalkeeper Kepa’s right post.

Carvajal set off and passed to Joselu, who shot, but the ball hit the horizontal crossbar and bounced in front of Rodrigo, who shot but went wide of the goal.

Bellingham passed a dropped ball towards Carvajal inside the area, who shot surprise goalkeeper Remiro, who excelled in stopping it.

Bellingham tried to shoot, but Remiro blocked it, then Merino headed in, but Kepa shone and blocked it, and the first half ended with Sociedad leading (1-0).

At the beginning of the second half, Valverde succeeded in scoring the equalizing goal, as he received a cross pass from Fran Garcia and towards the far right of Remiro.

Joselu added the second goal for Real Madrid when he received a cross pass from Fran Garcia, rose and shot past goalkeeper Remiro.

The match referee awarded a free kick to Real Madrid at the edge of the penalty area, and Kroos executed it, as he shot a ball that touched Remiro’s left post.

Real Madrid maintained the lead in the final quarter-hour of the match, continuing its series of victories in La Liga for the fifth round in a row.
