Man City 3-0 Bayern Munich: Champions League quarterfinal in Pep Guardiola’s side hands after first-leg victory

Manchester City defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 at the Etihad, moving one step closer to the semifinals of the Champions League.

In a thrilling quarterfinal match between the two teams favoured to win it all in Europe this year, Rodri curled a beautiful left-footed shot into the corner from 25 yards out to break the score.

After the break, Bayern reacted and attempted to level the score as the first leg remained in doubt, but a dreadful stretch for Thomas Tuchel’s team allowed City to win the match completely.

With 20 minutes left, Dayot Upamecano was fouled, and the hosts pounced. Erling Haaland clipped a cross to the back post, where Bernardo Silva was free to head home. After John Stones nodded the ball down, Haaland, as usual, added his name to the scoresheet and made it 45 goals for the season.

With Bayern having a mountain to climb in Munich the following week, Pep Guardiola’s team is still on track to win the Champions League for the first time.
