Chelsea fall into the trap of Wolverhampton in the Premier League

Chelsea FC fell defeated (1-0) today, Saturday, by its host, Wolverhampton Wonders, in a match that brought them together at Molineux Stadium, in the 30th round of the English Premier League competition.

Chelsea returned Frank Lampard to the leadership of the first football team, after the dismissal of Graham Potter.

Lampard was unable to bring Chelsea back to the winning streak in the English Premier League, to fall into the trap of losing with a clean goal at the hands of Wolverhampton, signed by Portuguese Matthews Nunez in the 31st minute.

Lampard’s offensive choices did not show any effect against Wolverhampton, as Chelsea fired a single shot on goal in 90 minutes.

Chelsea started with the attacking trio Sterling, Havertz and Felix, before involving Pulisic, Obamyang and Modric in the second half, but to no avail, in light of the tight defenses of the wolves.

Chelsea remained in the eleventh place in the English Premier League table with 39 points, ahead of the twelfth and Wolverhampton by 8 points.

Chelsea did not know the taste of winning in the English Premier League, since March 11, precisely during the last 4 matches, when it beat (3-1) its host Leicester City in the King Power.

Chelsea is preparing for a difficult match against Real Madrid, when it visits the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, next Wednesday, in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League competition.
