De Bruyne: We realize the strength of Leipzig… and winning Champions League does not make us the best

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne underlined Leipzig’s strength ahead of facing them in the Champions League, noting that winning the title does not make the heavenly side the best on the continent.

Manchester City is preparing to host Leipzig at the “Al Ittihad” stadium tomorrow evening, Tuesday, in the second leg of the final price of the most important continental championship.

The first leg, which was held two weeks ago at the “Red Bull Arena”, ended in a 1-1 draw, which means that any team winning any result in tomorrow’s match gives them the qualification card.

“We cannot underestimate Leipzig’s capabilities,” De Bruyne said, in a press conference held today, Monday. “We played against him 3 times and we know his capabilities well.”

He added, “Leipzig is a team that has great energy, plays aggressively, it is a team that makes the match difficult, I have previously faced it in a Wolfsburg shirt, it has quality all the time, it rose from the second division to the golden square in the German League and then to the Champions League, I am aware of Leipzig’s strength, and we hope To beat him tomorrow.”

He continued, “Winning the Champions League does not make us the best team in the continent. I do not see it like this. Everyone has their own opinion regarding the comparison criteria. We want to become the best every year, and I presented here 8 wonderful years.”

Asked if he regretted not winning the European Champions League before, the Belgian star replied, “I do not regret anything. Whatever the competition, I always try to win, and I am lucky because I have won many other championships.”
