Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that he is on the right track to regain his form after scoring in his team’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening, in the 14th round of the English Premier League.

Since recovering from injury, De Bruyne has not played a single match as a starter before Wednesday’s match, in which he made his mark by scoring a goal assisted by compatriot Jeremy Doku.

De Bruyne told the BBC: “It was an uncomfortable injury, mysterious and confusing. I am slowly improving. I was able to play a lot of minutes and I did not feel uncomfortable.”

He added: “It is a relief. Most of us had a career in other teams before City, so I played in periods like this. It could be much worse. It was a difficult time. We were not at the level. We had injuries and so on.”

He continued: “Hopefully today is a first step to improvement. It is good to change the momentum. In some of the matches we lost, there were periods when we did not play badly.”

De Bruyne commented on the speculation of a rift between him and manager Pep Guardiola, saying: “I know a lot has been said. There were no problems between me and Pep. He knows I was suffering. It hurts and it’s uncomfortable. I want to get back on the pitch. I felt good at the start of the season. I’m working hard to get back fit. Maybe it’ll be up and down from now on.” He concluded: “Hopefully I can get back fit without too much pain and then I’ll be fine.”

Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has expressed his hope that midfielder Phil Foden will be ready to play for the team after the international break, raising doubts about the player’s participation with the England national team in the European Nations League.

Foden suffered from illness in the early rounds of the current season, as he missed the team’s matches against Ipswich Town and then West Ham in the English Premier League, after playing for 45 minutes in the first match against Chelsea.

Manchester City were not affected by Foden’s absence, as they made a great start to the season, and Guardiola is confident that the best player in the English Premier League season 2024/2023 will be ready as soon as possible.

Foden scored 19 goals and made eight goals in the 2024/2023 season, and scored three goals (hat-tricks) against Brentford and Aston Villa, as City performed perfectly on their way to winning the title. Foden is on England manager Lee Carsley’s squad for the Republic of Ireland and Finland games, but Guardiola is unsure whether he will feature in those games.

Asked how long City fans will have to wait to see Foden play again, Guardiola said: “I hope it won’t be too long, I hope he will be ready after the international break.”

“He played against Chelsea for 45 minutes but he didn’t feel good afterwards. He had scans and he feels better, but he’s not in perfect condition yet.”

“I’d prefer him to have time to recover and be okay, and come back after the international break and be ready for the games.”

City host Brentford in the Premier League on September 14 before hosting Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium in their first Champions League match four days later.

Yalla Shoot keeps up to date with the latest transfer news, as we will follow in this report the latest important transfer news published by the most important English newspapers.

Arsenal are aiming to kickstart their summer spending with a big-name striker signing. Newcastle striker Alexander Isak is the dream addition but a £200million price tag has been slapped on the player, meaning RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is considered more realistic. However, reports overnight claim Victor Osimhen, preiviously expected to join Chelsea, could be the new target.

Talking of Chelsea, their manager search appears to be narrowing down to Enzo Maresca, Kieran McKenna and Roberto De Zerbi, with a new manager expected to place by the end of next week. Transfer dealings continue without a head coach, though, with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise due to be signed for around £60m no matter who is appointed.

Manchester United will soon be also on the hunt for a new manager, with Erik ten Hag expected to be sacked after the FA Cup Final, which is today. McKenna has been tipped as his replacement, and the interest is mutual. Meanwhile, Tottenham are weighing up moves for Conor Gallager, Ivan Toney and a wide forward. Keep up to date with all the latest news via Standard Sport’s LIVE transfer blog!

Arsenal handed hope in Alexander Isak chase

A glimmer of hope in Arsenal’s fading chances of signing Alexander Isak.

The Telegraph say Newcastle have lined up Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen as potential replacements for the Swedish striker this summer.

But, despite potential issues with financial rules, the Toon want £200m to sell Isak.

Chelsea in talks to sign Nigerian teen after successful trial

Chelsea are in talks to sign Hafiz Umar Ibrahim.

According to BBC’s Nizaar Kinsella, the Blues are working on a deal to bring the 18-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

Hafiz enjoyed a successful trial at the club’s Cobham training base and now current club Odoju City. The Nigerian club are seeking a fee after the youngster’s successful trial at Cobham. 🇳🇬

Tottenham handed Albert Gudmundsson transfer blow

Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson has changed his mind about moving to the Premier League, in an apparent blow to Tottenham’s transfer hopes.

Spurs have long been linked with the striker, who has 14 goals and three assists in Serie A this season.

But they will have to look elsewhere as Gudmundsson does not plan on leaving.

“(I’ll leave) only for a crazy opportunity,” he told Sportweek.

“As a child I dreamt of the Premier, but now I have changed my mind: here is life.

“Because my favourite position is that of number 10: for me it is important to have the freedom to be able to express my imagination and give vent to my shots.”

Ten Hag sends warning to next manager over Ratcliffe and INEOS

Erik ten Hag has sent a warning to his successor as Manchester United manager.

The Dutchman is widely expected to be sacked by United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe even if he guides the club to FA Cup Final success at Wembley over rivals Manchester City.

Ten Hag enjoyed a successful first season at Old Trafford, winning the Carabao Cup, reaching the FA Cup Final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

However, his this season fallen well below expectations, even realistic ones. Ten Hag himself admitted it has been “crap”, with the club finishing eighth – their lowest in Premier League history – and with a negative goal difference to boot.

And now Ten Hag has blasted the unrealistic expectations in and outside the club.

Dortmund in pole position to sign Serhou Guirassy

Borussia Dortmund are in pole position to sign Serhou Guirassy.

The Stuttgart striker is being tracked by a host of clubs, including West Ham, but it is Champions League finalists BVB who are leading the chase.

Guirassy, who has scored 28 Bundesliga goals this season, has a release clause of just £15million.

A bargain.

Saudi interest in Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne

Could two of the Premier League’s biggest stars be on their way to Saudi Arabia?

According to the Telegraph, Saudi sides are desperate to sign Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne, and are willing to wait until next summer to do so if necessary.

The pair are about to enter the final 12 months of their current deals, with free transfers at the end of next season a distinct possibility.

Chelsea back of the queue for Rafael Leao

Premier League clubs look set to miss out on Rafael Leao.

Chelsea are one team regularly linked with the AC Milan winger along with French champions PSG, but Saudi club Al Hilal have taken pole position to land him this summer.

Tuttosport say they are ready to offer over £85m to sign Leao with a hefty personal terms offer on the way.

However, Milan want his full £150m release clause and it is not clear that the player would accept such a move.

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola acknowledged Real Madrid’s right to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals, after overcoming the difficult hurdle of the Citizens with an exciting scenario.

Real Madrid was able to defeat Manchester City in its home, at the Etihad Stadium, on penalties (4-3), on Wednesday evening, in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, in a match that ended in a draw (1-1) during regular and extra time.

Pep said in his comments after the match: “Real Madrid were better than us in the penalty shootout, so they are in the semi-finals and we are not. I must say thank you to the players from the bottom of my heart because of the way they played. But football is about winning and we did not do enough. But we were exceptional.”

Guardiola continued: “Sometimes you can win on penalties and sometimes not. But in the match we did not take advantage of the opportunities we had, even though we really defended the win.”

He added: “Everyone showed up at a high level. We said we had to be at our best in order to win. I would have preferred to win but congratulations to Real Madrid, we did everything, so I don’t regret anything at all.”

He concluded: “I always say as a coach, it’s about scoring more goals and conceding as few as possible and we did everything. We played exceptionally well but unfortunately we couldn’t win, so that’s the way it is.”

Real Madrid is scheduled to face its German counterpart, Bayern Munich, in the semi-finals of the Champions League, which won qualification at the expense of Arsenal.

Real Madrid qualified hard for the semi-finals of the Champions League, after beating Manchester City on penalties, after the original and extra time ended in a 1-1 draw.

But the scenario of the match and what happened in it confirms that these matches are not for those who perform the best, but rather for those who can snatch victory in them.

Ancelotti presented himself on a golden platter to Guardiola!
Real Madrid made a great start in their match against Manchester City, after they succeeded in scoring early at the Etihad Stadium, through Brazilian Rodigo, and everyone expected after that that Italian Carlo Ancelotti would be able to handle the rest of the match comfortably.

But what happened next was the exact opposite of those expectations, as Real Madrid unjustifiably fell back, leaving possession to Manchester City and its players.

In fact, Ancelotti gave Spaniard Pep Guardiola what he wanted, which was the space required to prepare attacks, in addition to the ability of his players to deal with counterattacks by Real Madrid players, as was expected.

As a result of their great possession of the ball, Manchester City succeeded in scoring the equalizing goal through Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, after many attempts in all possible ways.

Ancelotti’s humble handling of the match!
Carlo Ancelotti was unsuccessful in his changes during the match, in the second half and extra time, after he removed the Brazilian Rodrigo and brought in Brahim Diaz instead, then Vinicius Junior and brought in Lucas Vazquez as his replacement.

These changes made Real Madrid lose its full ability to organize any counter-attacks against Manchester City’s goal, showing in more than one ball that the team was unable to carry out any counter-attack, and we saw this in an attack led by Camavinga and another one by defender Antonio Rudiger. They did not find anyone to pass to them!

Ancelotti wanted the match to go to penalty kicks, and this was demonstrated by his substitutions, so that success would stand by his side and he would be able to beat Manchester City in his home and qualify.

Real Madrid saved Spanish football!
After Barcelona and Atletico Madrid exited the Champions League on Tuesday evening, at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, respectively, the hope of Spanish football was focused on Real Madrid.

Indeed, Real Madrid succeeded in preserving the chances of Spanish football in the Champions League, after it succeeded in reaching the semi-finals, eliminating the defending champions, and qualifying to meet Bayern Munich.
