Messi: I wish Maradona would give me the trophy and that’s what I said to my wife!

Lionel Messi reveals the scenes of the World Cup final.

Argentine star Lionel Messi revealed many scenes from the final match of the tournament that was held in Qatar at the end of last year, during a press interview with Radio “Urban Play”.

Messi said: “Everyone wanted his country to become the world champion, but after they left the tournament, many wished for us to win the title because they wanted to see me raise it. I heard that a lot during the World Cup, and I think it is an amazing thing that has not been repeated before.”

And about his words that he said to his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, and the lenses caught her: “I told her that’s it! Because after so many disappointments, the finals we lost, and criticism of every color, we closed the circle and achieved the Copa America and the World Cup, and there is no other championship left.”

And he added, “It is very difficult to describe my feeling when watching Montel’s last kick, but when passing by the cup, I felt that it was calling me and telling me to touch me and lift me up. I saw it there shining and wonderful and I wanted to raise it.”

And he continued: “I wish Maradona had seen that, I think if he was there he would have given me the trophy himself, I think he was happy up there and a lot of people who love me.”

It is worth noting that Lionel had played an amazing role in crowning the Argentine national team with the World Cup after scoring seven goals throughout the tournament, including a brace in the final match.
