Manchester City activate Gundogan’s extension clause

Spanish manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that the club has activated the extension clause in German Ilkay Gundogan’s contract.

Gündogan’s contract was due to expire next summer, but it includes a clause allowing the club to extend it for another season.

“Official… Ilkay Gundogan extends his contract with Manchester City for an additional year, until 2026!” Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, wrote on his Facebook page.

The transfer expert added: “The extension clause has been activated for another season, as confirmed by Guardiola, who stated, ‘Gündogan has another year now… That’s for sure… What will happen in the summer? I don’t know.'”

Gündogan has made 43 appearances for Manchester City this season across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
