Guardiola reveals Haaland’s position before the Real Madrid match

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed the chances of Norwegian Erling Haaland, the Citizens’ striker, to catch up with the Real Madrid match.

Haaland fell to the ground in the final minutes of his team’s 4-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday evening, complaining of some knee pain, before being replaced by Matheus Nunez.

Guardiola said in statements to the club’s official website: “When he was on the ground, everyone was scared, but he got up and was smiling as always.”

He added: “I didn’t talk to him or the doctors, the doctors didn’t come with bad news, so I hope he’s fine.”

Manchester City is preparing to face Real Madrid next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the second leg of the Champions League play-off round.

The first leg, which was held at the Etihad Stadium last Tuesday, ended with Real Madrid winning 3-2.
