Laporta asks Guardiola’s advice
Barcelona is preparing to enter the final part of the season as it continues to compete for the La Liga and Champions League titles, and at the same time the Catalan club’s management is working on the team’s project for next season.
Barcelona is looking to appoint a new coach to succeed Xavi Hernandez, who will leave at the end of the season, and there are many names on the table, such as Hansi Flick, the former German national team coach, and Thomas Tuchel, the coach of Bayern Munich, especially since they have previously won the Champions League title.
There is also Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbe, along with the duo Luis Enrique and Mikel Arteta, with there being difficulty in contracting the latter duo due to their links to both Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal at the present time.
According to Radio Catalunya, Barcelona President Joan Laporta asked for advice from Pep Guardiola, the current Manchester City coach, regarding Xavi’s successor, and the Spanish coach told him that the next coach of Barcelona should be De Zerbe.
The only obstacle for Barcelona remains the presence of a release clause in the Italian coach’s contract with Brighton, worth up to 10 million euros.
