Arsenal appoints a new managing director
Arsenal announced this evening, Thursday, the appointment of the club’s Director of Football Operations, Richard Garlick, to the position of Managing Director, starting this summer.
Richard will take up his new position when CEO Vinay Venkatesham, who decided to step down last year, departs.
Before joining Arsenal in 2021, Richard held a number of prominent roles as Director of Football Operations, where he has executive responsibility for all football operations and management across the club.
“Richard is respected across the game for his extensive experience, and we were delighted when he joined us in 2021 to take our football strategy to the next level,” Arsenal co-owner Josh Kroenke said in statements to the club’s website.
He added: “He has made a huge impact since joining us, working closely with our sporting director, Edu, on developing and implementing the club’s football strategy. He has developed strong relationships across the wider club.”
As for Richard, he said: “Since joining Arsenal in 2021, I have had the honor of being involved in every aspect of this amazing club. I am excited to move forward in my new role as we move to the next stage of realizing the vision of our owners, Stan and Josh.”
